Region and Conference Play Begins

Its that time of year that we all start region and conference play. 2-3 games in, we are all busy and covered up with work. It's very easy to let bad form set it. Remember always go back to the basic drills. That will never change no matter the level of play. I know, i know, we only have 10 minutes of practice that they let us practice and we don't get any time to do drills. Let me go ahead and say this. If you are going to be a good/great long snapper. It's not going to happen at regular practice at your high school or college. Being a specialist is a skill, not something you can power through. Not something that YouTube can fix. It's all in the extremely small details. And ALL IN THE TIME "YOU" DEDICATE to mastering it, NOT AT PRACTICE with the team.
Remember your coaches don't know the majority of this. This will not change at the next level. I look at it like this. People that work in an assembly plant building engines for cars/trucks/SUV's, etc. They are trained on which gasket goes where, torque for certain bolts, what screws go where. And they do a great job at it. They build stock engines day in and day out. Glad we have them. However, the majority of them can't take a small block engine and get big block power out of it. They know nothing about lift and duration, push rod length, mill, bore, I could go on and on. Being a specialist or an actual specialist trainer/instructor is the latter of the two. Rarely can one do both. So don't hold it against you high school or college coaches, for not giving it the time it deserves.
Now, they will continue to yell and scream at you if you mess up and say you only have one job, and anyone can snap a ball etc. Don't get me started on that. Coaches have one job, to win. But they can't without attention to the small details of knowing and understanding, not yelling and screaming. Anyway. I highly respect most coaches at every level. (complete rant over).
Back to "YOU" do your drills, do your drills, do your drills, and let me end by saying do your drills. See you all soon. #longsnappers #kickers
